A Milestone Year for the LFO28 Project

This school year marked an important milestone for the LFO28 project, which will see our school move to Fornebu for the start of the 2028–2029 academic year.

Over the past months, several significant developments have enabled the entire school community to follow the project’s progress and begin envisioning life in our future campus.

The year began with the official announcement of the project and the launch of a dedicated website, designed to keep families regularly informed about each stage of its development.

At the same time, the rezoning process for the site continued in close collaboration with the local authorities. This essential administrative step is a prerequisite for launching the design phase of the future school building.

In the spring, the middle school student representatives had the opportunity to visit the future campus. Their visit prompted many discussions, allowing them to share their first impressions and begin imagining their future school. In June, the eco-delegates also visited the future campus and the neighbouring protected nature reserve.

On 24 April, all LFO staff members were invited to visit the site. This proved to be one of the highlights of the project. Staff were able to explore the premises, better understand the site’s potential, and picture themselves in this new chapter of the school’s history. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with the visit answering many questions while generating genuine enthusiasm for the project.

A few weeks later, the annual LFO Cross Country Run took place at the Fornebu site. Students, staff and families enjoyed discovering the exceptional surroundings that will soon become the home of our future campus, further strengthening the connection between our community and its future environment.

The next major milestone is the approval of the rezoning process. This will pave the way for the design of the building and detailed planning of the learning spaces, ensuring that the future campus is tailored to the educational needs of today’s and tomorrow’s students.

The LFO28 project is therefore continuing to move forward according to schedule, with an unchanged ambition: to provide our students with a modern, functional and sustainable school that reflects the educational excellence of the Lycée Français d’Oslo.
