Sports & Outdoor Activities
Although Fornebu’s size might suggest a limited offering, the range of activities available in the area is truly impressive! Here, we’ll have access to everything from water activities, including swimming, kayaking, and sailing, to classic sports such as football, tennis, and basketball. On top of that, there are opportunities for cultural and creative pursuits like art and theatre.
We’re thrilled about the potential this brings for our after-school programs. This diverse environment will allow us to offer enriching experiences that truly inspire and engage our students. The possibilities are endless, and we can’t wait to explore them together!
Culture & Community
What used to be Oslo’s main airport has been transformed into a lively hub for cultural events and family-friendly activities. Venues like Sjøflyhavna Kro combine food with small cultural happenings, and nearby centers in Lysaker and Sandvika offer theaters, cinemas, and exhibitions. Families can enjoy both the local scene and quick access to Oslo’s cultural life.

Nature & Environment
Surrounded by the sea, Fornebu offers several family-friendly beaches such as Storøyodden, as well as Nansenparken, a large green park created on the former airport tarmac. With wide open skies, fresh air, and plenty of space to explore, Fornebu gives children and families a unique opportunity to grow up close to nature while remaining connected to the city.
Transport & Accessibility
Fornebu is well connected to Oslo by public transportation, making it easy for families to reach the area from many parts of the city. Bus 31 Fornebu/Groud links the peninsula directly to neighbourhoods like Skoven, Frogner, the city centre, and Grorud. Bus 24 Fornebu/Brynseng provides convenient access from Ullern, Smestad, Täsen, and Bryn, while Bus 28 Fornebu/Okern T offers direct connections from Maiorstuen, Grünerløkka, an Løren.
Looking ahead, the new metro line, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2029, will get you from Majorstuen to Fornebu in only 12 minutes. This will be an incredible boost for the accessibility of our school community! The new line will introduce six brand new stations to Oslo’s metro map: Skoven, Vakero, Lysaker, Arena, Flvtärnet (which will be the closest station to our school), and Fornebu.
For those who drive, new and improved parking facilities are planned around the school, including a dedicated “Kiss and ride” zone to make morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups quick and safe.
